It’s Monday and on the Monday-ist-Mondays ever I like to go for an outfit that can be easily pieced together, comfortable, and stylish. I went for this velvet cami because it was a no hassle piece that is so. on. trend. right now. I bought this particular cami last fall and now it’s perfect to pair with a light cardigan for this “in-between” weather. You know, when you wake up in the morning and its a “cool” 80 degrees, but by afternoon it quickly turns to a scorching temp. of (at least) 95 degrees. This outfit works great for these types of days, you can remove the cardigan and still have an outfit that is styled to work together!
On this unexpected windy/stormy day, I kept my cardigan on and tried to keep my hair attached to my head. I often let my short-sleeve cardigan fall to my elbows for a more “loose look” and gave way to the beautiful strap detailing on the back of this velvet cami. I accessorized this outfit with jewelry of different colored metals to really pull the rich silver color from the cami, but kept it from looking so matchy-matchy with the other colored metals – just a little extra thought to make this a stand-out look.
I’m crushing on this velvet right now because I just adore pairing pieces together that have different textures, especially for pictures. Texture is a surface quality related closely to our sense of touch or sight. The different textures against each other give the photos another level of dimension and distinguishing the different textures apart from each other is visually interesting to an audience. Another level of texture I added in this outfit were these ribbed, moto-jegging pants. The ribbed look popped against the velvet cami and the soft, plush cardigan.
Not only do these moto-jeggings add a level of texture to these photos, they are so stylish and comfortable at the same time! Confession: I own 3 pairs of these moto-jeggings in different colors and I wear them constantly because they go with everything and add so much flair to an outfit. Also the waist band is stretchy and lacks a real zipper and button so I’m not uncomfortable after a big lunch/dinner. I sized up to a medium to give the jeggings a more “pant-like” look and not so tightly fitted around my legs as leggings would be. If you do not have a pair of these yet, I would consider changing that (I’ve linked these below)! I paired these black, buckled mule booties with this outfit because the dark metal on the buckles went perfect with this look and to be honest, I’m totally obsessed with them (or maybe just mule booties in general). Overall, this velvet-centered look made my Monday a breeze… maybe too breezy.
